My KOR

Multi-part publication that explores language. Through language, I reflect on my relationship with my mother tongue and the way my culture has been passed down through language and how it affects different generations and one’s sense of self.

Overview

In this publication, I explore my  relationship with my mother tongue, Korean. Through a series of interviews, I reflect on the impact it has had on shaping my identity, family dynamics, and worldview. Through language, I reflect on the way my culture has been passed down through generations, influencing my sense of self. At the same time, I examine the tension between preserving the nuances of Korean and navigating the global landscape in which English has become the lingua franca. This piece is a personal meditation on how the words we speak—and the ones we don't—hold the power to define who we are.
