A bi weekly news letter designed and written by me. The series started as an exercise to keep record of my daily life. It is still ongoing and has expanded as a study of life.

My KOR

/ Copy / Illustration / Layout / Motion Graphics / Publication

In this publication, I explore my  relationship with my mother tongue, Korean. Through a series of interviews, I reflect on the impact it has had on shaping my identity, family dynamics, and worldview. Through language, I reflect on the way my culture has been passed down through generations, influencing my sense of self. At the same time, I examine the tension between preserving the nuances of Korean and navigating the global landscape in which English has become the lingua franca. This piece is a personal meditation on how the words we speak—and the ones we don't—hold the power to define who we are.

Autumn Bounty

/ Branding  / Illustration / Layout

Autumn Bounty is Terrain’s annual festival that kickstarts the Fall season for the customers. The season is introduced through live demos, music, local artisan makers, food, and more. For the festival in 2024, I was assigned the design campaign for the festival, and the goal was to have a bright and fun poster that emphasizes Fall flowers. The elements of the campaign include: a poster, a digital poster, an instagram post, a digital banner, flyers, postcards, and vendor signs.

Nudake, Packaging

/ Branding / Interface / Packaging / 3D Design

Nudake is a dessert brand that is a sister brand to Gentle Monster. They are known for their dream-like desserts and experimental campaigns. For this project, I ideated a potential packaging design for a pop-up dessert event. The cake packaging is made of mulberry paper so that the customer can reuse the packaging as a mood light after they are done with the cake. By having something to keep after the celebration, this packaging keeps the memory alive. I also 3D modeled the pop-up event’s space as a vending machine that would act as a pick up location for the cakes.  The unique L-shaped machine creates a photo spot for the customers as it mimics a mood light with the glowing lights surrounding whoever steps into the corner of the machine.

Saturday School

/ Copy / Layout / Publication

Saturday School is a zine that explores the layered, shared journey my sisters and I had with our mother tongue, Korean. Growing up, we spent countless Saturdays at Saturday school, forced to do spelling tests, speaking and listening exercises, and learning cultural expectations. Through this zine, I revisited the memories of my mother tongue, shaped by sibling solidarity, small triumphs, and the occasional frustration, all while weaving together as how it connects us to our roots.
